Hoop Skirts= Liberation?

This article from a French exhibit that claims that the crinoline (hoop skirt) was an engine of feminist change.

It kind of reminds me of the myth that Vassar's halls are so wide so that ladies in their hoops could get exercise....

    You can research other historical garments (ranging from the 1860s-1970s) in Drama 231a History of Fashion for the State. No prereqs and very few assignments. You can just look at pretty clothes all day!
