Every year, Vassar sponsors an event called "Meet Me in Poughkeepsie." The event allows organizations to take students for a fun day outside the Vassar bubble.
This year, Contrast took students thrift shopping and to eat at the Eveready Diner.
They went to Goodwill with their shopping budget from the school, and picked up a lot of good finds.
And hardcore thrifting always works up an appetite, so some great diner food was just what everyone needed.
Everyone had a lot of fun, got a lot of clothes, and was well-fed. So basically, a perfect day.
Another great organized event within Meet Me in Poughkeepsie was Ceramics and Pottery put on by Vassar Town People. The event also took place in Rhinebeck/Hyde Park area, so though not exactly a meeting in Poughkeepsie per se, still a lot of fun.
Ceramics took place at Moring Studio which is a small house-like venue. The size allows the teaching to be very personal with small class sizes and hands on teachers.
Using the wheels was a great time no matter what experience level, and everyone made two pieces that in a few weeks they'll go back to trim, glaze, and take home.
Meet Me in Poughkeepsie was a great event this year for style and the arts and hopefully it will continue to be for years to come.
