Carine on Jeans:
"I only wear jeans and flat shoes when I am on holiday, never for work. Jeans suit me very well but it's not for me anymore. It's horrible to say but it has something to do with age. I have good legs, so I prefer my skirt lengths and my high heels. It's like my uniform. I never wear jeans. Jeans are for my assistants."

"Do you know why? Because Cartier is the jewelry you give to your mistress. It is not the jewelry you buy for your wife. I heard that and it might be totally wrong, but it is this idea and I love Cartier because of that"I love her. Carine Roitfeld (for those of you who don't know) is the Editor of French Vogue. She is also the best dressed woman in the world and has the most impeccable taste. She is a photographer and has been featured on The Sartorialist several times. Carine is the mother of Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, who has become a starlet herself in the fashion world. Anna Wintour Who????

Legs, Doubletake

The Similarities between Garance Dore and The Sartorialist are overwhelming. The other day she posted a photo that seemed a little too familiar. This picture is of the same girl, in the same outfit as one that Scott Schuman posted last week. The location is different, the hair has changed, but these two lovebirds are losing themselves a bit. Which photo do you prefer?

And bonus points if you can guess which photographer took which photo......

Silk Turbans

So The Sartorialist and Garance Dore must be dating. The two fashion photographer bloggers have both posted a series of images of women wearing silk turbans this week. Also- she has been in New York all week. That's all I am saying. But turbans must be in a pre-trend stage, as I have yet to see any on real people recently. Garance writes, "And then I also like how sometimes, when I wake up with an unidentified hair-like object on my head, 'Oh hello Amy Winehouse,' my mirror says to me, I should say, this happens a lot more often than I’d like, but I like that I can just grab a headscarf, tie it up, and off we go." If only life could be that simple, I don't think I am quite ready to rock a turban, but these women look great. Am I alone here? Would you wear one?

Mini Mini Skirts

Now I love a mini skirt. Maybe it is my way of rebelling against the fascist security guards from high school who wrote me up for having skirts shorter than my fingertips. They make your legs look long and lean, plus I have a great use for all of those skirts from my youth. However, I saw this picture on The Sartorialist a few days ago and even I thought, Come on, Where are your pants? And then I felt like my grandmother. Everyone who commented on it seemed to love it (except the guy who said she looked like a baby prostitute). You guys may decide for yourselves, I just needed to hear some other opinions.

I Heard it Through the Grapevine...

If you are a fashion blog junkie, there are two blogs you almost definitely have bookmarked: The Sartorialist, and Garance Doré. For those of you who have yet to discover these fantastic blogs, the gentleman behind The Sartorialist is Scott Schuman, and the lady behind Garance Doré is, well, Garance Doré. Both blogs are all about street style, and while Garance's is mainly based in Paris and Scott's in New York, the two have become globe trotting style gurus, traveling to cities to snap pics of everyday individuals who have paid that special attention to detail, or given their outfit that interesting twist. WELL....







...the word on the street (blog gossip!!) is that the two are dating! I know that Scott has kids, and had thought he was still married, but I guess that's no longer the case.

A stylish looking duo indeed.

Bloggers: "The Future of Fashion?"

When most people think about the major power players in the fashion industry, usually editors, models, and big-name designers come to mind. However, times are changing, and bloggers are quickly rising to the top of the fashion ladder. Bloggers such as Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) and Garance Doré (Garance Doré) are two of the most popular style bloggers and are quickly becoming accepted into the high-fashion set. In this month's issue of Teen Vogue, the magazine profiles several up-and-coming young bloggers whom they herald as "the future of fashion." From 16 year-old Texan Jane Alridge (Sea of Shoes) to 19 year-old Filipino Bryan (Bryan Boy), this list presents the new stars of fashion. With all this publicity and their rising influence, do you think that bloggers will eventually replace magazine editors and other traditional fashion jobs?
